Beaux Arts Chamber Ensemble presents a program of Piano Trios featuring two youthful works by great masters and one American masterpiece. The Trio will bring to life Felix Mendelssohn’s achingly beautiful and complex Piano Trio in d minor, op 49; Schubert’s transcendent Noctturno, and Paul Schoenfield’s brilliant, exciting, and technically demanding Cafe Music composed with the intention to write a kind of high-class dinner music – music which could be played at a restaurant. It draws inspiration from many types of music such as early 20th century American, jazz, light classical, gypsy, klezmer, and Broadway. A paraphrase of a beautiful Chassidic melody is incorporated in the second movement. This program is both viscerally exciting and emotionally satisfying. Performed by award winning musicians – violinist Huifang Chen, cellist Claudio Jaffe, and pianist Tao Lin – Beaux Arts Chamber Ensemble has been featured in notable series across the country and praised for its passionate playing and imaginative ideas.
