Keith Teepen, the Tom Kenan Assistant Professor of Piano at Flagler College, will bring Romanza Festivale 2025 to a spectacular completion with a performance of the incredible “Piano Concerto No. 2” by Sergei Rachmaninoff. This amazing and much beloved composition, given its debut performances in 1900 and 1901, will be performed by Mr. Teepen with a string quartet plus one in the sanctuary of Ancient City Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon, May 18.
Mr. Teepen has performed both as a soloist and collaborative pianist in Europe, Asia, South America and throughout North America. He received his D.M.A. in Collaborative Piano at the University of Colorado Boulder and is a multi-faceted musician having collaborated with a diverse spectrum of celebrated artists including tenor Bryan Hamel, trumpeter, Tine Thing Helseth and Broadway stars, Laura Osnes and Donna Vivino. Mr. Teepen has also performed with his piano duo partner, Nariaki Sugiura, the Red River Trio and has music directed several productions notably Little Women and Edges.
Joining Mr. Teepen will be Vinicius Sant’Ana, violin; Kimberly Zielinski, violin; Hannah Barrow, viola; Brittany Maroney, cello; and Tony Steve, timpani.
Vinicius Sant’Ana, a Brazilian violinist celebrated for his artistry and leadership, has served as Concertmaster of the Pro de Acucar Orchestra and is an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed in Carnegie Hall where he made his debut in 2014 and his performances have captivated audiences in Brazil, China, Japan, Argentina, the Czech Republic and Italy. He serves as a violin and viola instructor at Maranatha Baptist University and is the conductor of the Suzuki Strings of Madison.
Hannah Barrow, violist, received her Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University and her Master of Music degree with an emphasis in orchestral performance from Arizona State University. She has taught music theory and conducted the Repertory Orchestra at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, music in St. Augustine schools and currently works as a freelance violinist and violist performing regularly with ensembles throughout the southeast.
Brittany Maroney, cellist, graduated magna cum laude from the University of North Florida attaining the accolade of Most Outstanding Musician of the Year for four years. She has performed with numerous touring artists including the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Styx and Celtic Woman. She performs regularly for local chamber and symphony concerts, operas and musicals and for local asrtists’ albums and YouTube music videos. Brittany performs regularly for First Coast Opera, the Amelia Island Chamber Singers, the St. Augustine Community Chorus and also maintains a private music studio of about 40 students in Green Cove Springs, FL.
Kimberly Zielinski, violinist, was born into a musical family and began playing the piano, taught by her grandfather at the age of 3. She fell in love with the violin at an early age and began performing professionally at the age of 14. She has performed with numerous local band and performing groups including the Jacksonville Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Coastal Symphony of Georgia and a national tour with the New Sigmund Romberg Orchestra. Kim has also been involved in 25 musical theatre productions with local companies including the Limelight Theatre, Players by the Sea and Flagler College.
The performance of the Rachmaninoff “Second Piano Concerto” will be in the sanctuary of Ancient City Baptist Church.
